Pics from Monday and Tuesday in Kiev

Michael, Em and I in front of an old church that we got to visit yesterday, our breakfast this morning from the lady who runs our apartment (it was interesting but good) and Michael with our facilitator assistant and tour guide Andriy (He is a really nice guy with a thick Ukrainian accent and a big help to us while we have been here. Sasha our main facilitator will meet up with us on Thursday when we get off the train in Zaphoryze).

A Touch Of Oklahoma in Ukraine

We had dinner this evening (Monday evening) at the Ukrainian Kitchen, a cafeteria style restaurant just down the street from our apartment. It was very good. We had chicken, chicken soup, bread and some cheese filled dumplings. Yummy. The price was reasonable too. I know we'll go there again while in Kiev. We dined with a couple from Owasso, Oklahoma, who are friends of our friends the Dickinsons. The Urbans are here adopting as well. It was SO good to have dinner with folks from home. They are an extremely nice Christian couple and I feel we've made new friends. What a blessing from the Lord to have a touch of home in a foreign land! You can't beat the friendliness of Oklahomans...we miss that here. It makes us appreciate our loved ones and friends more for sure.

Kiev at night

After venturing out to see the city we came back to our room to take a break and get some water. We went back out when it was dark to see all the lights. The building were lit up and looked so pretty. The atmosphere was a little different at night so we did not stay out for long.

More pics of Kiev

The buildings here are very detailed and beautiful. It was like nothing I have ever seen before and very breath taking even at night. The city was very busy and alive with music, dancing and people selling things on the street. There were lots of couple holding hands and just having a good time.

Here are some guys that were dancing on the street. It was pretty cool and some of them were good. You don't see this kind of thing in Oklahoma!! The other pic is of Michael and I just enjoying this time together before meeting our son. Our SDA appointment is tomorrow morning at 10am our time. Please pray that everything will go smoothly and that we will be on our way to see our little guy on Wednesday as planned. We hope to have the first pictures posted of our meeting on Thursday evening our time.

A picture of our apartment

Here is a picture of our apartment from the outside. We are the bottom apartment. and the next is just a pic of some cool buildings.

We thought this was kind of funny. A big picture of Julia Robers and George Clooney on the side of a building. I guess they are popular over here too!!

More pics of Downtown Kiev

Here are some more pictures on the amazing statues and landscaping we saw while in "Independence Square". We had decided to go for a walk and just came upon this beauty by mistake and so happy that we did. There were lots of people around with a fun atmosphere. It was nice to get out of our apartment and be amongst the people and culture. Kind of scary at first but then you realize that these are people just like you and me.

An evening in Kiev

Here are some pics of us last night as we ventured out to explore downtown Kiev. These pics were taken in "Independence Square". It is a beautiful area with lots of fountains and beautiful buildings. We had fun playing in the fountain.
